Small Towns Jones

Devon based singer- songwriter Small Town “Jim” Jones’ music has echoes of influences such as Wilco, Nick Drake and Elliott Smith but it is clear that the soundscape of honest, intensity and heartfelt, emotional content is something that Small Town Jones is fast becoming known for.
Jim Jones - Small Town Jones

After recording in Texas for the successful last album “Freight ships” Jim’s journey has continued to take him to some great places where the door continues to push open seeing him play Dermot O’Leary’s Radio 2 Saturday sessions as well as playing support slots to Ray Davies, Ethan Johns, Damien Jurado and Sara Watkins to name a few.

Small Town Jones has also toured with the Peter Bruntnell band and continues to gain momentum and support with the view of touring his new release late 2015 and early 2016.

Jim Jones - album Sky down to the ground

The new album “Sky down to the ground” is due to be released in November 2015 on his and label partner Peter Bruntnell's own independent Domestico records.

Having successfully crowd funded the album back in January, Jim chose the close to home “Basement studios” in Morthoe, on the North Devon coast to record his latest collection of songs.

Produced by Peter Bruntnell the album features the musicianship of long time musical compadre’s David Little and new drummer Mike Reed. There are also guest appearances from singer songwriter Emily Barker on the hauntingly filmic track “The Long Goodbye” as well as the guitar and fiddle playing of U.S. band Son Volt’s Dave Boquist to name but a few.

After sending the title track off of his last album to Dermot O’Leary’s producer, Jim was invited on to play the well known BBC Radio 2 Saturday sessions and with Dermot continuing to support Jim, he and the band are returning to play his show this Saturday 24th October, where they will play a stripped down version of his new single “Fear of Drowning as well as an exclusive acoustic cover.
