Passenger Clothing - Manufacturing moves to Europe
Over the last year we have been working hard behind the scenes to source and build relationships with suppliers within Europe.
We are very happy to announce that from Spring 2015 many of our products will be manufactured in Europe. Our aim over the next year is to manufacture as many products as possible within Europe and develop new products within Europe.
There were a few reasons we decided to move our production to Europe and in particular Portugal. The reasons we decided to move production closer to home were not about quality or poor working conditions as contrary to what is perceived for manufacturing in the East this is not the case as we worked hard to find suppliers who maintain a high standard in both these areas. The key reasons for moving production to Europe are it’s closer to home which is better on the environment in terms of our carbon foot print and it enables us to work closer with our suppliers, building a good relationship, allowing us to push the quality and products to an even higher standard with regular visits and inspections. Some products just cannot be made in Europe but we are working hard to manufacture as much as possible within Europe.
Our fabric production and garment production are based between Spain, Portugal and Turkey and you will see from Spring/Summer 2015. Our knitted garments will be manufactured in Portugal and then from Autumn/Winter our shirts and woven lines will be produced in Portugal using fabrics produced in Spain and Portugal.
There are also some really great benefits for manufacturing in Europe, one of these happens to be that Portugal has great surf and weather. On our last visit before Christmas we were greeted with great waves and weather, It is such a privilege to have all of this on our door step.
